Why are Andaman and Nicobar Islands a key Indian military asset?

Even though Atal Bihari Vajpayee government created Andaman and Nicobar Command at Port Blair in 2001, the tri-service institution has not lived up to national vision with three services still operating in silos and are wary of committing additional military assets to counter Chinese challenge in the Indo-Pacific.
