India's tiger population increased by 6.74% from 2,967 in 2018 to 3,167 in 2022, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India now accounts for 75% of the world's tiger population, making it the largest tiger range country. Modi launched an International Big Cat Alliance for the conservation of seven big cats, including tigers, and also released a vision document on Tigers during the event. He said India also has the largest Asiatic elephant range country and the largest single-horn rhino country. The success of Project Tiger is a matter of pride for the whole world, he said.
