Airports may not get full body scanners soon
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has withdrawn its tender to procure 131 full body scanners due to issues with a clause from the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management. This is not the first time the AAI has withdrawn a tender for the scanners. The government aims to complete the tendering procedure and issue a letter of award to the successful bidder by the end of the year. Concerns related to privacy, radiation, and false alarms have delayed the installation of full body scanners in Indian airports for over a decade.
