COP28 director-general Ambassador Majid Al Suwaidi says mitigation of emissions, an outcome on adaptation, operationalisation of the Loss and Damage fund, and delivery of climate finance will be prioritised at the UN Climate talks in Dubai in November. The event, held in the Global South for the Global South, will be ambitious and tackle hard questions, he said. The aim is to address the 43% emissions reduction needed globally to meet the Paris Agreement goal. The UAE is keen to encourage low-carbon development in the Global South and to work with India, which is expected to play a major role at the event.
