How the transfer of HC judge kept in limbo may trigger a domino effect on collegium’s proposals

The Indian Supreme Court collegium has revised its recommendations for high court chief justices due to the government’s refusal to transfer Justice T Raja from the Madras high court. Several proposed appointments may be in limbo if Justice Raja is not moved, as he is currently the acting chief justice of the Madras high court and the most senior judge there. The government has not acted on the collegium’s recommendation to transfer him since November 2022.
