Centre reaches out to Opposition leaders as protests mar Parliament

Efforts to end the logjam in India’s Parliament have not been successful, with opposition parties demanding a discussion on the situation in Manipur and a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government has increased its outreach to resolve the deadlock, but opposition parties are refusing to back down from their demands. The opposition also staged protests over the suspension of an Aam Aadmi Party leader and growing atrocities against women in Rajasthan. The opposition has called for further discussions and protests outside of Parliament.
