Twenty-one members of Parliament from the Opposition alliance INDIA visited Manipur and told the governor that the state machinery has failed to control the situation for close to three months. The MPs submitted a memorandum to the governor reporting the condition on the ground, making suggestions for peace efforts, and criticising the silence of the Prime Minister. Manipur has been experiencing ethnic violence between the Meiteis and tribal communities, leaving at least 150 dead and thousands displaced. The meeting with the governor followed a visit to relief camps in Churachandpur and Bishnupur.
