Parliament is expected to face a rocky session this week as the Centre plans to introduce a bill to replace an ordinance giving the Union government control of Delhi’s bureaucracy. The House is also set to debate a no-confidence motion over the violence in Manipur. The bill proposes changes to tribunal appointments and removes a provision related to control of Delhi’s administration. The Aam Aadmi Party has called the ordinance “illegal” and “unconstitutional” while the opposition INDIA grouping has demanded a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the violence.
