Parl panel suggests undertakings to curb return of awards

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Culture has recommended that the Sahitya Akademi take an undertaking from proposed awardees that they will accept the honour and not “dishonour” it in the future, in an attempt to prevent people from returning awards. The committee stated that the return of such awards is disgraceful to the country and undermines the achievements of other awardees.
