The Uttar Pradesh Board will teach its students about the life and times of 50 great leaders of India, including Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and Deen Dayal Upadhyay, but not Jawaharlal Nehru. Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Bhimrao Ambedkar, and Lal Bahadur Shahstri, however, make the cut. The inclusion of Savarkar, who opposed India?s freedom, has been criticised by Congress? media co-ordinator. The marks for the new subject will not be included in the high school and intermediate exams mark sheet.
