The Supreme Court of India is set to hear petitions seeking legal validation for same-sex marriages from April 18. However, several other important cases, including those related to Article 370, entry of women into Sabrimala temple, judicial review in matters of faith, and challenges to the Citizenship Act, are still pending before appropriate benches. Critics have called for a permanent constitution bench to be formed to expedite proceedings.
