4 convicted for Dalit sisters’ gang rape and murder in Lakhimpur

Four out of the six accused have been convicted in the rape and murder case of two Dalit sisters in Uttar Pradesh. The verdict for the remaining two accused will be announced separately. The bodies of the sisters, aged 17 and 15, were found hanging from a tree in 2022. The convicts face charges under the IPC and Pocso Act. The quantum of punishment will be announced on August 14. The trial for the sixth accused, who is a minor, is being held separately.
